On the utility of cases of beer (or how this karma is going to kick my ass)

Sorry for the long time away. I have no excuse. I was just too busy working on my bar. I made a ton of progress during the past week. I will update you over the next few days.

While building my bar, I had to cut a lot of wood. Usually one would use sawhorses to facilitate the cutting of said wood. I am no different, except I am. For most of my cutting I used empty cases of beer bottles as sawhorses. Why not? They were just sitting around.

I cut a lot of wood using these beer cases. They worked great. However, I did have one incident. I was cutting some plywood with a circular saw. I didn't pay enough attention to where the case of beer was. This was the result.
I sawed right through the case of bottles without even noticing it. The bottles did not escape unscathed.
I decapitated 8 bottles with a circular saw. That can't be good.

Oh the Gods of the Guinness are going to have fun kicking your beer brewing if you don't hurry and pay homage to them.... Man, I'll try to drink a few in prayer for you. :-)

I like it. What ever gets the job done! But... your cases have holes in the top as well as hand holds. How do you keep saw dust out of you empty bottles?

Lisa- I'm trying, I'm trying. I'm worshiping every beer I drink tonight while grading.

Lurker #5- What did you do with Lurkers 1-4? Yeah, the dust is a problem, but I will wash it out with my bottle washer. Besides, I keg most of my beer now anyways.

Man. I gotta say it: I enjoy reading the blog but I fear that you are one step away from serious injury. Keep on keepin' on but keep those safety glasses on and consider Kevlar.

Did you at least get their powers after cutting their heads off?

My grandpa had 4 fingers considerably shorter on his left hand, thanks to home-built circular saw. My highschool classmate who became a physician saw a strange thing in emergency room: a man walked in with a segment of circular saw stuck right in between his eyes, cutting his nose (and glasses) neatly in half. The saw blade broke as it hit a nail in the pole he was cutting...Fortunately that thing lodged itself in facial part of his skull, there was no brain injury.
